One Word, Wow!

I’ve seen a lot of cool things over the years teaching FitCamp classes. But this morning was one of my top 10 when Dennis dropped down to the floor and banged out 9 one-armed push-ups, AFTER Class!  If you’ve ever attempted even just one of these you know how hard they are and will apprciate this clip even more. (Don’t worry, if you’re thinking we’ll be doing these in class, we most likely, definately, probably won’t be). :)

Which one’s your bad habit?

According to Anthony Robbins (Awaken the Giant Within) what determines your success in any area of life is not due to the major things you do once in a while.  Your success, whether it be financial, career, weight loss or in fitness will come from the small disciplines and habits you practice on a daily basis.

With health, fitness and weight loss it’s always good to remember the small things you do each day will add up to huge results over time.  Take a moment to reflect on the good habits you practice each day?  Are you someone who exercises every day?   Do you eat healthy foods to fuel your body?  What types of books or magazines do you read to learn more about living a fit and healthy lifestyle?

Now the bad news,  just as a good habit can bring success a poor habit can lead to disaster.  Be honest with yourself and take a moment to think about any poor health habits you may be struggling with.  Are you a chronic late night snacker?  Do you smoke?  Go up for 2nds one too many times?  Stay up too late watching Letterman?  Hit snooze and miss your workouts?  Do you eat out more than you eat in?  Are you overweight?

Here’s the challenge (and the key to your success in whatever health, weight or fitness goal you are thinking of) take just one of your bad habits and replace it with a good one and promise yourself to stick with it day in and day out for 21 days.  It could be to exercise everyday, to not eat sugar, to make dinner every night, whatever bad habit you just can’t live with anymore.

Final step, click on the comments box above and post your bad habit and good habit you will replace it with to add just one more layer of accountability!  Good luck!

What motivates you?

When it comes to dieting, weight loss and fitness success there is one thing you just can’t live without… an endless supply of MOTIVATION.   When you look up the word motivate in the dictionary it says “to move to action”.   Everyone has the ability to be motivated.   To be moved emotionally, physically or spiritually into a course of action that will change their life forever.  For some it’s the doctor’s visit where they learn they will not live past 50 if they keep up their poor health habits and diet.  For others it is simply knowing that their example is the source of inspiration for their friends, family and loved ones.

What moves you?  What gets you going?  What is the fire that burns within you that is going to help you achieve your health and fitness goals?  Everyone has motivation within, the key is to find it and remember it when life gets hard.  When the food is calling your name, when the alarm goes off in the morning.

For me it is the stories.  The stories of people who do what was once thought of as impossible.  The stories of people who succeed with their weight loss goals and prove to themselves that they could do it.  The stories of parents who lose weight and learn how to eat healthy so their children do not suffer a lifetime of poor health.    For me it is stories like the one I just read from Deb Willard-Parker.

Deb has been a FitCamp member for over a year now and has achieved an incredible level of fitness with just 2 classes per week.  She and her sisters Donna and Kim were recently featured in the Holden/Princeton Telegram (check out her story here).  Deb’s hard work and commitment to living a healthy, active and fit lifestyle has been a source of inspiration and motivation for many.  Recently Deb shared with me her goal of competing in next year’s Ironman Ultra Distance Triathlon in British Columbia.   We’re all here for your support, go get em’ Deb!

After just a few weeks of work the place is really starting to come together. If you click in the photo below it will take you through a photostream with lots of great pics of the new place. Still lots of work to do but as of right now we are right on schedule for our grand opening in just over 3 weeks on Saturday, October 3rd.
